Checks in patients for their scheduled appointments.
Verifies and updates demographic, billing, and third- party coverage information as needed.
Collects patient paperwork as needed.
Checks out patients following their visit, including scheduling any return or follow-up appointments as needed and scheduling any referrals.
Ensures all patients and caregivers receive excellent customer service.
Obtains and prepares medical records for patient appointments.
Reviews medical records for completeness.
Initiates procedures to locate missing information prior to the patients visit.
Files records, correspondence, and reports into the medical record after completion of patient visit, and maintains file system in order.
Copies medical records as needed.
Scans documents from patients/providers, and file in appropriate folders/charts.
Answers and screens incoming telephone calls, takes accurate and thorough messages.
Promptly triages emergency telephone calls based on office protocol.
Handles queries and concerns via phone, email, and general correspondence and/or routes to appropriate personnel.
Uses discretion while working with sensitive information.
Schedules procedures and testing.
Instructs patients and families regarding preparation for procedure and post-procedure needs.
Issues billing statements to patients during their visit.
Collects office visit fees and prior balances.
May assist with billing and/or direct patient to appropriate billing personnel.
Calls to remind patients of appointments.
Qualifications High School Equivalent / GED 1-3 years of experience At least one year of customer service experience required.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
